| BaneCare
traces its beginning to 1959 when George Bane traded in
the truck from which he sold clothing and housewares door-to-door
and purchased the Avalon Nursing Home in Lynn, MA. So began
a proud tradition of serving the area’s frail elderly
and their families with unfailing attention to the finest
care. George established a bond between the community and
the Bane family that remains unbroken to this day.
In 1963, George
built a new 47-bed skilled nursing facility, Abbott House,
also in Lynn. Over the next twenty years, sons Richard and
Kenneth joined the organization and the family operated
three other area facilities. In 1986, they purchased Devereux
House, a 64-bed skilled nursing facility in Marblehead.
In 1990, the Banes developed The Swampscott Wing, a luxury
suite addition to Abbott House, and established their position
as the North Shore's leading skilled nursing care provider.
In 1994, the two sons collaborated with the Salter family
to build and operate Salem's Grosvenor Park, a 123-bed skilled
nursing facility. In 1999, Richard assumed the leadership
of BaneCare, paving the way for the leading edge organization
that has evolved today.
In early
2001, BaneCare embarked on a successful association with
Alliance Health of Massachusetts, a Newton, MA-based not-for-profit
health care company. Alliance purchased the Lynn and Marblehead
facilities, as well as a new facility, the 135-bed Rosewood
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located in West Peabody.
BaneCare continues to manage Abbott House and Devereux House,
and added Rosewood to the operation as well, making BaneCare
the North Shore market leader in skilled nursing care.
Richard Bane
continues to set the standard for premium, quality skilled
nursing care on the North Shore started by his father, George.
He is a leading authority in the region's long-term care
field, lectures across the country, and chairs The Aurum
Network, the largest post-acute network of independent providers
in New England. Recently, Richard was elected to the Executive
Committee of the Massachusetts Extended Care Federation,
where he is now intimately involved as a key decision maker
for the entire Massachusetts skilled care community.
Family members,
residents, and industry professionals alike respect and
trust Richard and appreciate the devoted care he offers.
As a recognized community leader, he carries the Bane legacy
with pride.
